Grant Summary 2003-04


ASF Grants to Schools:  2003-04 School-year


At the HIGH SCHOOL –   $72,665 – thanks to parent and community donations!

·        Hired teachers for extra sections of Math, Journalism & AP English. 


·        Restored the Foods and Nutrition Program


·        Provided Science lab assistants for all Science classes.


·        Presented a Signature Grant for Drama.


·        Presented a Signature Grant to open a Math Peer and Computer Tutoring Center.


·        Funded six Impact Grants to classrooms for enrichment activities. 

At the MIDDLE SCHOOL -   $58,368  - thanks to parent and community donations!

·        Added 22 classes to the overcrowded Electives schedule. This reduced class size and gave more choices for students each quarter.   Subject areas included Dance, Drama, Home Economics, Sign Language, Computer Technology and Music.


·        Signature Grant allowing all 8th graders to participate in a culminating ropes course experience.


·        Signature Grant to the AMS Drama program for a new sound system.


·        Funded six Impact Grants to classrooms for enrichment activities.


At the ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS -  $86,375 – thanks to parent and community donations!

·        Math curriculum books and materials for all 4th and 5th grades.


·        Increased a school specialist’s time at each elementary school by 20% allowing them more time in the classrooms.


·        SOU Education Assistants Program put more aides in the classrooms.


·        Signature Grant for Artists-in-Residence in each elem. school.


·        Funded 20 Impact grants for classrooms for enrichment activities.

PLUS - $13,800 for the following targeted funds:

·        Purchased new Spanish books and curricular materials for AMS through the Buy-in for Books program


·        Continued the student “Self-Help” program at AHS through targeted donation


·        Purchased a harpsichord for the AHS Orchestra program through the Lois Jenkins memorial fund


·        Directed funds to district music programs for instrument repair through proceeds of community programs
