Executive Director

We are looking for an Executive Director candidate who is passionate about education and wants to make a difference our small, stable non-profit. The mission of the Ashland Schools Foundation (ASF) is to maintain and enrich public education in Ashland, Oregon for the families, staff and roughly 3,000 students who make up our district.


The Executive Director position is currently full-time, but we are open to restructuring the position for the right candidate. This position is an opportunity to build on the successful 30-year history of ASF as we continue to evolve and collaborate with our public school partners.

About Ashland

The successful candidate must be based in beautiful Ashland, Oregon, home to America’s largest repertoire theater, the widely-acclaimed Southern Oregon University, and some of the best outdoor recreation in the country. The historic town has a population of about 22,000, just off of Interstate 5, and is sandwiched between Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport 15 miles to the north, and the Mt. Ashland Ski Resort 15 miles to the south.  In the past decade, Ashland has been named one of the Top 10 Best Places to Live by Money Magazine, one of the Top 20 Best Small Towns in America by Smithsonian Magazine, one of the Top 10 International Wine Travel Destinations by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, one of 2021's Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker by Moviemaker Magazine, and one of the Top 10 Geo-tourism Places in the world by National Geographic Magazine.


Highlights of the position include:

—Reporting to a community-based Board of Directors

—Collaborating with school administrators, staff, and families to improve educational opportunities

—Preparing and managing the organization’s budget

—Planning and conducting the fundraising activities of ASF



  • Undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to public education
  • Experience with fundraising
  • Experience working with or for a non-profit organization
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or on a team
  • Strong office software skills
  • Strong public speaking and leadership skills
  • A commitment to advancing equity and anti-racism in work environments and the community
