Ashland’s Family-Fun Halloween Race is Back in 2021!

monster dash startPRESS RELEASE - OCTOBER 7, 2021 - For the 13th consecutive year, the Ashland Monster Dash invites ghosts, ghouls, super heroes and monsters to run in support of public education. This year’s event is being offered both virtual and in-person, with the main event planned for Saturday, October 30th in Lithia Park, Ashland.

The Monster Dash is a collaboration between the Ashland Kiwanis Club and the Ashland Schools Foundation, with Lithia4Kids as the presenting sponsor. Organizers aim to raise tens of thousands of dollars for classroom grants in Ashland public schools. These grants can be used for classroom projects, materials and supplies, professional development, and more.

This year’s racers can choose to join the socially-distanced race event in Lithia Park, or celebrate with their own Halloween-themed virtual race at home.  Ashland Schools Foundation Executive Director, Susan Bacon, says she hopes this year’s Monster Dash will give families the opportunity to participate in the way that makes the most sense for them.

“It really is just a ton of fun, and we want to offer something for everyone this year,” says Bacon. “There will be an option to race in Lithia Park, with staggered start times, limited participation per race, and mask requirements. Or runners can create their own virtual event at home in their neighborhood. It gives people lots of choices for celebrating how they feel most comfortable while supporting our public schools.”

The event features 1-mile, 5k and 10k distances, and will be offering prizes for top finishers of the in-person race. Virtual runners will also have the opportunity to win gift certificates by running anytime October 22-31st and uploading their times to the race website. Both in-person and virtual runners and walkers of all speeds and ages are welcome to enter costume, video, and photo contests online for chances to win from this year’s prize pool.

“We want the community to have a Halloween event that will be fun, but as safe as possible.  We designed a Kids’ Fun Packet with Halloween toys, activities, and treats for our youth racers, and everyone is encouraged to run in costume.”

This year’s sponsors have also stepped up to the plate to support local education and provide participants with prizes, giveaways, and online auction items. The presenting sponsor, Lithia4Kids, joins nearly 100 local businesses who are giving their time, products, and sponsorship dollars for a successful 2021 fundraising event.

“We are excited to continue to partner with the Ashland Schools Foundation in their Annual Monster Dash,” says Anna Brewer, Corporate Culture Manager at Lithia & Driveway. “Lithia4Kids believes in supporting organizations that help educate, advocate, support and strengthen the youth in our communities. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to support the Foundation’s most anticipated event again this year.”
