A big change is coming to ASF…

susan ashland officeAfter nearly two decades of serving as the Ashland Schools Foundation Executive Director, Susan Bacon will be retiring from ASF on December 31, 2021. Help us find a new Susan!

Susan began working for the Foundation as an office assistant in December of 1998, and that part-time office position led to a 20-year career in nonprofit leadership. During this time, Susan has been at the helm of our fundraising efforts, district communication, outreach and strategic planning for the Foundation.

Now, the timing is right for Susan and the Foundation to pass the torch to a new Executive Director with fresh energies and ideas. Last spring, the ASF Board went through a process to create a 5-year Strategic Plan that will help the organization move forward and, with the Board leadership we currently have in place, it’s a prime time for the transition.

From Susan: “I feel good about the financial strength and stability of ASF, and the many goals we have met over the years. A favorite aspect of my job has been working with so many wonderful donors, businesses, and volunteers who have been part of the Foundation. I truly could not have done my job without their support of ASF and our schools.”

The ASF Board has a search committee in place, with the aim to hire a new Executive Director later this summer to begin work in the fall. Under this plan, the new Executive Director and Susan will work together for several months to transition ASF in the healthiest way possible.

Do you know any prospective candidates who you might like to encourage to apply? Please send them our way! Our committee is now accepting and reviewing applications for our Executive Director To-Be. Please visit our Job Opening page for information about the position.

And please join us in congratulating Susan on her retirement! We are infinitely grateful for her guidance and dedication, as well as her willingness to go above and beyond to meet our mission of strengthening Ashland’s public educational offerings. Happy retirement, Susan!
